Gifts that Give Back – CARE : Gifts of lasting change.

I am so excited to share this post with you today! Matt & I work hard to teach our kids to give back and during the holidays our family always participates in some form of charity giving or another. Brookelyn has been working at a local food pantry with her girl scout troop now & then, we drop canned goods in the donation bin at the grocery store each week and we always choose two children from the angel tree downtown to shop for at Christmas. There is so much more that we can do though all throughout the year. That’s why I’m so excited to share CARE with you. This is a perfect time to give to others in need. CARE is a global humanitarian orginization that is fighting poverty and committed to empowering women and girls to build a better life for themselves.

Choose from ten fruit tree seedlings, 2 chickens, packs of drought resistant seeds, rakes and animals like goats and cows. Such a small price to pay to know that a family will be able to farm, to harvest food, and live off of their land.

Provide a woman with a Village Savings and Loan Kit, Girls Leadership Training, or school textbooks and supplies. Imagine not being able to participate in sports because you don’t have the proper clothing! You could provide culturally appropriate Islamic sportswear for girls in rural secondary schools. 

Something so simple to us as clean drinking water isn’t always available to people in other parts of the world. Give the gift of a 3 month supply of clean water, for less than what you’d spend on 6 drinks from your favorite coffee shop! I’d be honored to receive a gift from CARE, especially knowing that the gift would provide a family with food, a child with healthcare or a woman the chance at opening her own bakery business.
